Many AA members are unaware of the important work being carried out by your District 11 Corrections Committee. To those involved, however, corrections work is an opportunity to carry the AA message to the confined alcoholic “behind the walls” who wants to live sober, one day at a time. Your Corrections Committee is working with corrections personnel so that alcoholics, who might never otherwise find the AA program, can receive the lifesaving AA message. For more information see the literature below.
Volunteers are scheduled to take meetings into McHenry County Jail on a monthly basis. Women on Tuesday nights, 7:00-8:00 pm and men on Thursday nights, 8:00-9:00 pm
To volunteer to help bring meetings into the McHenry County Jail, please contact the Corrections committee chair. You can also get the volunteer form on our district forms page, however it is best to contact the Corrections Chair for information and guidance – to contact the Corrections Committee use the form.
Also check out Bridge the Gap to find out how you can help “bridge the gap” between life in a correctional or treatment facility and life in the “outside world.”
